2nd Shooter!

This past weekend I had the privilege of 2nd shooting for my friend, Gregory Byerline. I love when I get the chance to 2nd- it basically means getting to just shoot and have fun and not worry about keeping everything flowing. You are also able to get a lot of shots that you can't always get when you are the main. It was a blast. Gregory has shot with us before and he is an excellent photographer. Here is one of my favorites that I grabbed of Katie and Roberto before the wedding-

Trash the Dress

We had a BLAST last night at a photo shoot that a group of photographers put together. I can't wait to share more about this super fun session with all of you. As you will see, a trash the dress session is something that can be done after your wedding, where don't have to worry about dirtying up your dress a bit. Maybe even get it wet! We did several locations, with many different looks, which I will share more of next week. We also have a few more exciting plans up our sleeves. So, be sure to tune in. For now, I wanted to share a couple of shots from our first location: the fountains at Bicentennial Mall.

( I just love the mysterious feel of this image! )

Yay! Yay! Yay!

This past weekend I heard the exciting news that Alex Mull proposed to my little sister, Jessica! I actually found out Thursday that he was going to propose on Friday. I could hardly stand the excitement waiting for Jessica to call me! My mom told me that Alex was going to have dinner with them this Monday night to ask for their blessing, but he was so excited he showed up Thursday night because he couldn't wait the whole weekend to ask. Jessica and Alex met at college and have been dating ever since. They are now both teachers, and will now be spending the rest of their lives together. Everyone in our family loves Alex and I am thrilled for him soon be officially my brother! Here's an image I grabbed of them a couple of weeks ago in Atlanta. You can click here to see portraits I did of Jessica and my other little sister Ansley last fall.

A Maternity Session with Samantha & David

This Tuesday I headed down to Spring Hill to spend some time photographing Sam and David as the await the arrival of their baby girl. Some of you may recognize Sam from her bridal session from a year ago. When I finish editing the session I will be sure to share some photographs of their adorable baby room that they have set up for baby Caroline! For now, here is one of my favorites from a field right by their house.

Jennifer & Matt

We had the privilege of photographing Jennifer & Matt's wedding this past weekend in Fayetteville, GA. I grew up with Matt and his family, and was so excited when I heard that Matt was getting married! I hadn't seen them in years, so it was great to see the family again. And when I met Jennifer, she was so sweet and such a beautiful bride. What impressed me the most was how she handled all sorts of crazy things going on the day of her wedding- I'll tell the story about this a little later! She was so calm, but at the same time determined to make things happen. I am so happy for you two!

8 things you may not know...

Melanie McLellan just tagged me for a little blog game that is going around. I’m supposed to list 8 things that you may not know about me and then tag 8 other photographers to do the same. I guess number #1 will be that I am an open book! So if you really want to know some juicy secrets, feel free to ask! But I know better than listing them all here… :)

2. I have several very odd food allergies that just developed a couple of years ago- here’s a list of things my body can’t handle: apples, bananas, beef, almonds, and squash/zucchini. Apple pie is what I miss the most :(

3. I have never had a cavity.

4. I spent a summer studying Chinese and teaching English in China. My poor southern vocal chords did not do very well with the Chinese language.

5. I started ballet lesson when I was seven, and danced all through high school. I taught dance for four years after that to help me through college. I miss dancing...

6. Peter was the first and only guy I dated longer than 3 months!

7. I can’t burp. At all. And I’ve tried every trick in the book. In high school it was my friends goal to help me burp but it never worked. I’ve now given up and gone on to better and brighter pursuits :)

8. And lastly I’ve still never seen the movie The Goonies… My parents thought it was not wholesome enough for to me to watch when I was younger, and from what I hear I’m really missing out. One of these days…

And now for 8 other photographers…. The first will of course have to be Peter, then

Melanie Litchfield
Alison Bynum
Krystal Mann
Amy Lucas
Justin and Mary (soon to both be Marantz!)
Andrea Hallgren

Can’t wait to see what you guys post!

Shelley & Lamar- and early morning adventure!

Peter and I are about to head to Atlanta to photograph a wedding this weekend, but I first wanted to share an image from Shelley & Lamar's engagement session today. Because of the RIDICULOUS heat, we decided to meet in the morning instead of this afternoon. And when I suggested that 6:00am would be perfect sunrise lighting, they were completely on board! Even though we had to get up at 4:30am, I was so excited to be able to take advantage of the early morning light- and it was perfect! I was so glad they were up for it, and Shelley's mom even came along. We had a great time wandering around Sevier Park and downtown, and they looked fabulous. Here is one of my favorites from the day.

For His Eyes Only

Yesterday I headed over to Amber's home to photograph a For His Eyes Only session that Amber will be giving Brandon for a wedding gift. We had a great time and I wanted to share one of her images with you that Amber gave me permission to post. Not only do these make a great gift for your husband, but they are also a great way to pamper yourself and have fun! We did a mixture of different styles of images, from fun, flirty, and sexy to very elegant and beautiful. If you would like more information on these sessions, you can e-mail us at info@doveweddingphotography.com.

Allison & Patrick

Allison and Patrick were married at their Brentwood church, Otter Creek. The thing that really stood out to me about Allison and Patrick was how important their family and friends were to them. Everywhere we turned, there was someone important to take a photograph of, and we met people all day who had known them for years! Even Allison's mom had high school friends at the wedding. Here are a few of my favorites from the wedding day.

I love this image of Allison in front of the beautiful stained glass at their church.

Allison & Patrick seeing each other for the first time!

The girls came up with the idea for this shot, and I think it is adorable!

During the ceremony, Allison and Patrick had one of their engagement images displayed on the media screen. It was so cool seeing one of our images that huge during the ceremony. I love the dramatic affect it had for the ceremony!

I think this collaged image from Allison and Patrick's reception conveys perfectly what their whole day was about. Along with their traditional wedding cake, over a dozen of Allison and Patrick's friends made cakes for the reception. I have never seen so many different choices for cake at a wedding, and never so many friends involved. Mmmm... wishing I had a piece right now!

Congratulations Carrie & Justin!

Carrie and Justin were married at the Owen Chapel Church of Christ, which is a beautiful and quaint little church in Brentwood. I LOVE the colors of the red doors and teal shutters on the church- similar to the colors we use for Dove! And Carrie did a great job finding colors for the guys and girls that worked beautifully for the setting. One of my favorite accessories for the wedding were the bridesmaid’s shoes:

But of course, cute shoes like these usually hurt like mad, so the girls took their shoes off for a little break :)

Here are a few more of the girls:

One of my favorites of the guys that Jennifer took:

And here’s a more “proper” shot of the guys:

The kids at the wedding were sooo adorable. I love this series of this little girl and her dad:

The ring bearer:

A few of Carrie and Justin taken before the ceremony. I love these red doors!

The ceremony was very sweet. Carrie’s dad not only gave her away, but also performed the ceremony.

Carrie’s dad right after they walk down the aisle:

Here’s Carrie at the reception- I love the expression on her face!

A final detail.

Bjorn

Some of you may not know that Peter has a little brother who is 21 years younger than him. Peter adores him, and talks about him more than anyone else I know of. He is 9 years old, and he is always making us laugh. We got to spend some time with him while we were in Minnesota, which was great because we don't get to see him that often. However, he is very tech-savy as most 9 year olds are these day, so we exchange e-mails from time to time. I just had to share one with you that he sent me today:

"daer, witny
I start school in 5 days i hope your more happy about work than i am
about
my shool

sinserly,

Bjorn"

And yes, I am probably more happy about work than he is about school right now!

Melanie and Tony

Okay, so I've decided to try and post at least one image right after a session instead of waiting until I am completely done with it. I hope it will keep me on my toes with the blog, and it will give our couples a sneak peek before they see the rest of their images. However, I'll still post more once I have finished editing the entire session! We hit downtown Franklin again with Melanie and Tony and had a great time. They both just got back from seperate vacations, so they were super excited to see each other, which made working with them a breeze! This is one of my favorites from the end of the day :)

2 years and counting!

This past week Peter and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary, and I could not be more happy! For those of you who don't know, we first met at our church, The Village Chapel. But three months before that, I spotted him across the room at a concert and and hoped I could meet that cute guy wearing Converse someday. And then one day, he shows up at church! I remembered him from the concert, and we soon became friends (although we admit we each thought the other was a bit snobby at first!). We dated for a year, and I knew that not only did I love him, but he was my best friend. Peter proposed on a trip to Orlando at the Gaylord Palms, and I was the most surprised as I have ever been! He had planned to propose on the beach the night before, but we were stuck on a Casino boat in a bad storm for 5 hours, and everyone with us were miserably sea sick the whole time! Even though his original plan did not work out, it made for a great story :) We were married three months later on a farm in Nolensville, and it was a wonderful, though very hot day. Marrying Peter was the best thing I have ever done. We always have so much fun together, and he loves me just the way I am- I could not ask for more. So in honor of our anniversary, I wanted to share a few images from our wedding. People always ask who photographed our wedding- it was Jamie Kuban at JKubanPhoto., and we loved the images she captured.
